After PM Modi takes the oath, the Sensex and Nifty open at a record high: These equities gain the most

Shortly after opening on June 10, India's benchmark indices saw new highs, driven by Reliance Industries Ltd. and Axis Bank Ltd. This followed on Sunday, when Narendra Modi took the oath of office as prime minister of India for the third time. The NSE Nifty 50 was up 91.90 points, or 0.39%, at 23,382.05 as of 09:21 a.m., while the BSE Sensex was up 233.11 points, or 0.30%, at 76,926.47. The Sensex reached a record-breaking high of 77,079.04, while the NSE Nifty 50 soared to a new high of 23,411.90.
Adani Ports, Power Grid Corp, Bajaj Auto, Coal India and Shriram Finance were among major gainers on the Nifty. Biggest losers on the Nifty were Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Dr Reddy's Labs, LTIMindtree and Hindalco.

All sectoral indices, except IT and metal, are trading in the green.

Stock market on Friday:

On Friday (June 7), the 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 1,720.8 points or 2.29 per cent to hit a new record peak of 76,795.31. The benchmark ended at a record high of 76,693.36, up 1,618.85 points, or 2.16 per cent.
