A massive explosion shook the area near Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening after a Hyundai i20 car parked close to the station suddenly exploded, resulting in a devastating fire. The powerful blast killed at least nine people and left several vehicles completely charred. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang followed by thick smoke and flames engulfing nearby cars within moments.
According to officials from the Delhi Fire Department, the explosion took place near Gate No. 1 of the metro station. Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the scene to bring the blaze under control. Preliminary reports suggest that eight victims succumbed to their injuries before reaching Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, while another later died during treatment. Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the blast, and an investigation has been launched to determine whether it was an accident or a deliberate act.
